When I went in to do Mount Weld I noticed a well taped track that seemed to be in the right spot for Frederick. Not having any time to check it out on the way back, can anyone varify there is a taped route up Frederick?

Nah, Stu, Jez and I didn't find a track either. I don't even remember seeing tapes or cairns around the summit weather station or whatever it was. It's not hard so it was just a case of driving into the nearest coop and then plodding directly at it. Fairly easy off track from memory, no great trouble with scrub.

Lines of tapes leading into the bush don't always mean a track. For instance I've helped in some field science where then use survey tape lines for setting traps for surveying swamp rat populations and what not.

Thanks. Thought it was unusual seeing the coups are so much higher than the road now.

Blue tape is for coupe boundaries and a combo of blue and pink for edge of coupe and reserve. Forestry tapes are usually tied as high as possible and higher up than walking tapes because they need to be visible from a bulldozer cab.

Interesting, my sciencey friends tend to use orange and pink, maybe that's why. I must remember to ask if there's a standard.
