RIP - Reg Williams

It is sad to note the passing of famed Tasmanian bushwalker and climber Reg Williams. As well as many climbing achievements, he was on the (first?) full traverse of the Prince of Wales Range with Olegas Truchanus back in the 60's.

Sad news Dave,
Other than his legendary bushwalking deeds he was a great climber. I'm currently working on a project at Cape Hauy, on researching the first full ascent from the water of The Candlestick Reg's name came up as he rigged a flying fox between the mainland and The Candlestick to a spot he named 'Thank Christ Ledge'. Another first for Reg...
Gone but not forgotten, a true Tasmanian pioneer.

He was also a great fabricator having built many of the stoves in bushwalking huts around the state, especially the coal burners on the Overland track - still there and still going strong.

A true Tasmanian mountain legend...gone but never forgotten...RIP
My deepest condolences to his family; his son Alan is a friend of mine through climbing.
