Terrible news. At least those attackers should find some Americans to make sense.

yup. the extremists are just labelling all foreigners as the enemy now and attacking the lot of them...
colin Monteith a well known climber commented the use of military drones has agravated the attitude of the militants.
they dont see or know who is hitting them so they cant identify a particular country as being an aggressor

I lost a friend in this attack and I guess trying to make sense out of what happened. So far I like the response below seems the most believable to me

Why Murder Mountaineers at Nangaparbat? ... As you all try to make sense of these chilling coldblooded murders, in an area where such things have never happened, and where these "so called Taliban" generally don't operate you must remember the attacks on Srilankan cricket team..for Taliban or any religious group never had a position against cricket and attacking "brown Srilankans" didn't fit into usual Jihadi agenda...then why? How do we explain such madness that simply doesn't fit in?
The answer is: there is one hell of method to this madness; attacks on Srilankan team were done to ensure Pakistan's isolation from international cricketing, and attacks on Nangaparbat are to ensure end of "international mountaineering expeditions" ...but could all this be a "Jihadi Agenda" ?

You will soon hear and read lots of spin doctoring telling you of how Taliban were taking revenge of this or that, but don't be mislead, this is not Taliban, this is a "strategic regional mindset" that aims to ensure continuous isolation of Pakistan from international narrative; mountaineering expeditions provided oxygen of positive publicity to the country and a powerful strategic mindset does not like that...this is what Nawaz govt needs to take up with them behind the scenes...this is precisely the "terrorism" they need to stop before we can make progress on other issues...

sorry to hear that mate... its sad they attack outdoors oriented tourists who are often people who care about the places they climb in and can highlight what is going on in these regions and give some publicity to all sides.... they could have just threatened the foreigners and told them to leave, that would also have spread the word about dangers in the area....

Irrespective of what the motives were, drone assassinations are like repeatedly poking a hornet's nest and there'll guaranteed to be a lot of pissed off hornets. "Collateral damages" are bound to happen. The issue is far bigger than what this forum allows and it's just sad about the loss of some great climbers.

Drone assassinations, troops stationed in Saudi, support of Israel, revenge for muslim deaths in afghanistan etc etc. There is always some excuse to commit these atrocities.

Actually reading that quote again..it seems to allude to that India was behind the attacks and I dont believe that all .
