Thanks, I read about the interesting quasi "Russian doll" geography.

Given your last photo location, it looks like Lake Wakatipu. Maybe, Wilson Bay?

Not Lake Wakatipu but in the right region. We haven't moved far.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. ~10 km from the immediate previous photo (yours), not mine. Not near Moke Lake or Crichton etc.

eggs spookily standing precisely behind me again :). I had to look that up, Wanaka shoreline was good enough.
We called in to Wanaka for morning tea and wandered around for a couple of hours en route to the west coast.

Are you near the Benjamin Franklin statue in Oslo Harbour?

Re: Game: Where-is-it? (international)

That's the correct harbour, so close enough. I don't know anything about a Benjamin Franklin statue. I'm up on the Festning wall.

Sorry Last, senior moment, I stuffed that up. I meant Franklin D Roosevelt statue, about 500 m from the festning.

On the theme of ports and harbours, which one am I arriving at here, USA:

I believe this is the only town in this region named after a woman.

You're in the general region but that's in Canada, not USA.
We would have passed there heading south at some point however.
Go north young man, a fair distance. And maybe buy a t shirt.

A quick search with Google Lens will easily identify this location.

Annette?

No, it's named after her surname. Her initials are F.E.H.

I was only teasing with Annette, there's next to nothing there. Your latest clue did allow me to narrow the search however, Haines named after Francina E. Haines.

Yes, that's correct. Strange, from a quick Google image search I get 7 hits with much the same view of Haines from the jetty.
Full answer is Haines, Alaska from the Chilkoot Dock. My earlier clue about koots and kats referred to the geography of the area, being that the town is is bounded by Portage Cove of Chilkoot Inlet to the east and by the Chilkat River at its mouth into the Chilkat Inlet to the west.

Thanks Last, yes I'm suffering with the same problem.
Covid didn't help with travel plans and now I'm getting older with medical problems starting to appear.

Maybe another trip to NZ should be on my agenda.
In any case more people have been there so let's visit Aotearoa again:
