the background looks a lot like Hartz lake but I don't remember shallows like that in the foreground

Thanks Mark. Having been to Hartz several times I don't know why it's never occurred to me to seek that one out.

- On Legges Tor zoomed towards Mt Victoria, Ben Lomond NP via Wattle Corner

I noticed the comment and link from Mountain Rocket. Great story.
That's a nice thought being able to help in a rescue.
Best I have done is help on some old pictures.
You would need really good sat images or have been to the place in question and taken lots of photos.
As for John's shot - it really looked like the edge - so maybe along a bit to Whymper Crags?
