Are we still in the Wollemi area, or maybe Gardens of Stone?

Thanks WFBW. There's something distinctive about that Wollangambe sand! Maybe it's the upstream sand mine that does it.

Unfortunately I won't have access to my photos until Monday, so anyone can go.

NSW: Name of the creek which is also the name of the wilderness area wherein the creek lies.

South, not nearly as frequently visited as either of those two river systems.

No idea. Total guess with Bimberi, but the actual creek looks to be in the ACT not NSW.

Not Bimberi. A man and his mule walked through western parts of this National Park many years ago.

Looking at all the NSW NPs containing declared wilderness zones.
Clues could point to Monga or Deua but the waterways of those names are rivers not creeks.

Yes, it is in the Deau, and the man and his mule is, of course, John Blay and his mule, Zac.

This particular creek is surrounded on north and south by the Donovan fault line and a range of surprisingly rocky and interesting peaks.

I’d be interested in reading more about that, Sandy. Is that information concerning the Deau and John Blay in print anywhere?

The book is called Backcountry and is thoroughly recommended, especially where it describes the woila, wadbilliga and brogo wilderness areas, although I don't recall any mention of the Donovan/burra areas (been a while since I read it though)?

Where in NSW is this pile of rocks?

Haven''t walked much in the general area so I was only vaguely aware of this. Looks like you can buy a signed copy of the revised book from him directly for $30 posted.

Try your local library, that is where I borrowed a copy from "Backcountry: A Trek Through The Deua and Wadbilliga." I really enjoyed the book, Blay is a terrific writer. His trek is somewhat dated now as many of the areas he walked through have since been declared park and/or wilderness. It is true that he never walked through the Burra-Oulla Wilderness but he was not too far away at Alpine. The wilderness area was declared after his walk, I believe.

We have done quite a few bushwalks through the area and they feel very remote as very few people venture off the 4WD tracks.

I've read it and no point holding it, happy to send my copy to a regular forum member if you pm me. His book on the bundian way was also good (borrowed that so don't have a copy to share).
