Yes that's it. The Alps have at least 5 "Lac Blanc" , most people know t he one near Chamonix, but the others are actually more photogenic, and this one is just gorgeous in autumn.

Thanks Hallu, that reminds me of a hilarious attempt to order a cup of white coffee in French many years ago in Paris. Love to go for a wander around the alps one day.

From the clues I would think Tahiti was the most likely, but I have no idea what the peak is called. And this isn't a formal guess because Ii don't have any accessible overseas images. Really should get some slides scanned.

That has gotten much closer to the answer NNW, it is on Tahiti (Nui). Get your scanner out .
A further clue - if I zoom out a fair way I'm facing the main port waterfront.

There are two significant peaks on Tahiti Nui. This is the lesser of the two.

Yes eggs. 2nd highest mountain in Tahiti at 2066 m (or maybe 3rd, depending on the source) and apparently rarely climbed. There is a decent hike that goes to around 1400 m. We were only in port for a short-ish day so it wasn't an option, but did manage a 4WD trip into one of the valleys east of there.

Scratching a bit - this is near a major river in NZ

That will do.
There are a number of crystal clear streams that converge on the Dart as it empties its murky waters into Lake Wakatipu near the community of Kinloch.

Wonderful shot. And you can just see a cascade as part of the saddle.

Yep from one end of the dart to the other... The shot is taken from just above cascade saddle (the saddle proper is actually behind me but cascade saddle is broadly correct).

It's been several days. Here's a new pic. Europe. I will not be too pedantic about the precision of the answer.
