Sheezz fellas . . . I am up to my eyeballs in work at the moment, so only an occasional visitor to the forum in recent months . . .but here's one from an area that I don't think has been covered before. Where was the photo taken from and overlooking what lake for a bonus point!

What a beautiful photo of a beautiful place - one of the great things about this competition.

This one will be really getting Mark's dreaming going  - probably a lot of scrub to get here though.

It certainly is a beautiful photo, and it looks like an incredible place to visit. At first glance it looked like Paddy's lake, but it is definately not. A nice little glacial lake - somewhere. :)

If you're talking about our Mt Seal trip i'm not sure we'll be in this exact area Brian (if i'm guessing correctly that is?).
I'll guess that this little lake is Lake Nancy, photo taken from the Irenabyss track?

Ahh Stu - definitely not Frenchys area.

You have been on the peaks in the background not all that long ago - something about extended fair weather.
Not sure that you have planned an attack on this part though - but it sure looks good.

My turn - I think it is Lake Maconochie with Mt Maconochie rising to the left.
It will be from the ridge / high point on the White Monolith Range just south of Mt M.

The range at the rear is the Frankland Range - with Frankland Peak and Secheron Peak fairly prominent.
I think Right Angle Peak has merged with Secheron?

Wow, now its an even more inspiring pic.
So that would be the Folded Range in the mid ground?

EGGS, you've done it again! Spot on. Photo taken in the saddle south of Mt. Maconochie 950m, between points 844m and 843m on the White Monolith Range, looking north to the Franklands.

I did a search before posting and couldn't find any reference to Mt Maconochie, but later found it mentioned as "Mt Machonocie." Dumb computers 8)

Tasman - thanks for posting.
You should tell us about that trip - that is seriously difficult looking country to traverse.

Wow. I was just browsing the map so I didn't deserve to get it right! However, was I right to think the very distant range (clearest if you open the image) would be Mt Field?
(Edit: I'm talking about the Maconochie pic. I too would like to hear about that trip. Was it a traverse from Sculptured Mountain to Cinder Hill? Did you get out to Greystone Bluff?)

That was a great pic from tas-man and not the type of country I expected to see out there...
eggs pic I thought must be on the WAR which is where I thought tas-man's was, but I have a vague memory of a pic like this from the Frenchman's Cap area?

One of stepbysteps areas is correct.... :)

tastrekker - I can see some faint ranges buried in cloud through the low point of the Frankland Range - most likely around Mt Wedge area and north to Clear Hill / Thumbs.

You are on the summit climb to Frenchmans with Lake Tahune on your left far below with the peak in the distance Philps Peak. Near where the track doubles back.
It is easier to go down a hill than up, but the view is much better at the top.

Wow, away for a day and look at all the fun I miss!
Too right that is exciting for me Eggs, I am off to Greystone in Feb!! Cant wait!! Going in over Giblin, and out over Green head to the Port Davey track. The rest of the Monolith range will have to wait for another day for me!! I might come on Stu's trip (in 2014 if I've not done it by then) and sit back having a rest day or 2 while they battle it out to The Cinders

Oh and Bap, your on the coast somewhere
Nothing to see here.

Bap - this has not improved since your first posting of it :(

Low headlands with a large land mass in the distance - implies looking towards Bruny or the mainland south of Hobart.

Are you somewhere near Storm Cove?
