I'd have to trawl through your site to find all the lake ferry crossings so I'll take a stab at Loch Ness. I think that was crossed in one of them

Loch Ness it is. It's the only one you need to cross, all the others you can walk around. (you can walk around Loch Ness too, but it is a looong way around.)

Your turn :)

Edit: The famous gear maker in the photo is Henry Shires of TarpTent fame.

I would not have guessed Henry.

Well, anyone else can have a go, I have nothing of an international flavour available.

Ok, I havent been able to pick any of the other as I have only done one international walk. You should know what trail it is on but where is this spot. A significant point on this trail too. It was very cold on the day I was there.

Wrong continent. It's in the USA on the Appalachian Trail.

Yep, highest point on the AT. Also a freezing day in the Great Smoky National Park.

Thanks norts, looks chilly. I didn't get over to the east but met an older couple at one point who lived near the AT; they did a good job of convincing me to visit.

USA. Name the river below and this vantage point:

Colorado River in the Grand Canyon national park?

Wouldn't be a rim trail, they are about 1.6km above the river. The inner canyon is where we are at I think.

Defintely not a rim trail. Over 900 metres descent to here from memory, which is a well known lookout. Did it as a day hike and this was the turnaround point (popular destination for that purpose - though not recommended if it's warm at the top). About 19km return and took me 7 hours, although I didn't hurry and had lots of photo stops.

Plateau Point?

Although it is crawling with tourists, Walking the Grand Canyon is worthwhile. We did it over three days with a trip up the other side to Ribbon Falls on the middle day.

Yes I believe this spot would be visited on a rim to rim trail hike.

Plateau Point it is. Yes I'd like to return. I left my better half in Las Vegas and took a bus here on my own for a couple of nights, so only managed one decent day hike into the canyon. Although I walked a fair bit around the south rim trails as well.

I think it's over to you wayno.

There are many trails around there, but the popular ones are the Bright Angel and Kaibab trails. Kaibab is steeper, we went down the Kaibab and back up the Bright Angel.

NZ, name the valley or the peak on the right
the peak is a reasonably well known one to climbers.
