Thanks wobbly, I wonder when/if we'll ever travel overseas again.

Let's try something different, a brain teaser of sorts. There are several clues in the photo.
Just name the trail I'm about to hike, shouldn't be too hard. USA:

As a perennial loser at this game I'm gunna guess Winners Creek trail.

And we have a Winner! Winner Creek Trail it is. Near Girdwood in Alaska, only had to walk behind our hotel to start this one.
I dunno Greg, self deprecating humour aside, you feature as one of the stalwarts of the international game :).

Thank you John.

Being under house arrest in the greater Melbourne Penitentiary makes one a tad unstable but thanks for the words of encouragement. Thought I'd post something a tad different.

This ones in Asia.

Could be any number of places, but if I can ignore the cryptic "self portrait" comment in the caption I'll open the bidding with Swayambhunath Stupa in Kathmandu.

Close but wrong Monkey.

Swayambhunath Stupa in Kathmandu, is a Buddhist temple high on a hill often referred to as the monkey temple. Right city wrong religion and wrong monkey. Hint: it's not a Christian temple!!

Cheers

Pashupatinath Temple, near Kathmandu Airport. We spent a fascinating few hours there, watching a cremation from start to finish (from the bridge and the opposite bank, where tourists are welcome).

And just like that, GregR gets it right!

(I climbed the first rock at the leap of faith, but wasn't willing to do the leap.)

Thanks Ribuck.

Bit ordinary that you didn't try the leap of faith between Adam and Eve!! Clearly the thought of immediate death doesn't appeal to you. It would seem that both of us suffer from Pusillanimous Insipiditis.

This ones still in Great Britain.

Trying to narrow down, is this an old abbey or similar in County Donegal?

By area - I meant country, not County. And this is not Donegal.
We are walking to some stone ruins from the 6th century, beyond which is a beautiful lake.

Yes - there are quite a few old buildings amongst these ruins - with a very impressive tower.
Glendalough it is.
