Sadly whenever we've tried that the result is always the same.

I never did find that dead knight. To keep going then, let's go somewhere tropical, away from the madness. Pacific:

Thanks for posting, johnw.

Might it be the Ko'olau Range, Oahu?

Not in Hawaii ribuck. We actually did start this trip on Oahu but I'm now many days sailing from there.

As for the current picture I have no idea, so I'll just say the Hawaiin Mountains on Hawaii Island.

Yes I could have tried harder Greg. I plead the fifth. He looks less happy than me in lockdown.

The latter. Not Bora Bora, which we visited a day or two later, but you're not far off.
I managed to lose three of my coconuts on this day hike.

Gawd John!

The 3 Coconuts Trail at Moorea is my final offer.

Sold, viva la Greg! Yes, the Three Coconuts Pass trail (Randonnée col des trois cocotiers) on Moorea.
We hiked to the base of one of those peaks on the left for some spectacular views.

"Bit late I suspect" - this must be a clue so I'll say Big Ben.

Nup.

No Ben in this one. No Sebastion either...

More hints then:

The ambulance is definately more than a bit late, try 300+ years late.

I guess the ambulance arrived a bit late for the 1692 massacre!

I'm not sure the ambulance would have been much use then either. With some Scottish roots just as well I'm not a MacDonald, or a Campbell. Now where is my sgian-dubh?
Been through here myself many years ago. The peaks of Aonach Dubh, Beinn Fhada and Gearr Aonach, aka the Three Sisters of Glencoe, aka Bidean Nam Bian.

Well Chaps it seems you both are correct.

Indeed the ambulance is late for the 1692 massacre, and it's not Sebastion Coe but Glen Coe- plus all the other bits and bobs Mr John has enumerated.

Ribuck is the winner, however John actually named the spot (and much much more) so I am going to give him the encouragement award.

Over to Ribuck

Thanks GregR. I would have given it to johnw, since I can't name the feature in your photo. I only know that it's somewhere near Glencoe.

Anyway, in the interests of keeping the game moving, this one is in the USA. Please forgive the blurry 42-year-old Polaroid photo (the dyes seem to migrate over time).

Diamond Head crater?

Re: Game: Where-is-it? (international)

Wed 29 Sep, 2021 11:44 am

Looks familiar. I'd say this is on Kilauea, the Halema‘uma‘u crater and lava lake.
I wonder if it's still possible to walk onto the outer part of the main crater after the most recent eruptions.

Not a meteor crater, but maybe its THE Meteor Crater

Re: Game: Where-is-it? (international)

It's not Diamond Head Crater. It's not Kilauea; it's on the US mainland.

wobbly wrote:Not a meteor crater, but maybe its THE Meteor Crater

Maybe. But that's a little cryptic, I'd prefer a feature name.

Meteor Crater, the one in Arizona, also know as Barringer Crater?

Re: Game: Where-is-it? (international)

You got it, wobbly.

I was a little disappointed that they didn't allow us to hike to the bottom of the crater, to the spot where various astronauts trained for the moon landings. (I visited after they decided it would be easier to film the whole event at Universal Studios instead. :) )

After bushwalking in the NT for the winter months, it was a choice between flying to Sydney to be locked up, or returning via Darwin to the UK, where restrictions have been largely abolished. It wasn't a difficult choice. I'll be back walking in Oz next year when it's all over.
