These didn't exist when we drove through the area on my one visit to Scotland in the 90s.
By pure coincidence we've been watching the latest series of Michael Portillo's railway journeys on SBS.
These were featured in the episode we watched last week, including a video interview with their sculptor, Andy Scott.
They are "The Kelpies" near Falkirk, not too far from Edinburgh. Mythological shape shifting water creatures that are part of Scots folklore.

You’ve got it John. Close to The Falkirk Wheel which is an engineering marvel and certainly worth a visit.

Yes, Eggs. We caught the train up from Zermatt to Gornergratt for some spectacular scenery.

We had a stroll from the next peak over in nice summer weather.

It takes nine very long trekking poles to set it up.

Yep Take it away Graham. Mercifully I am going overseas again next April and can't start to find new pictures instead of constantly re-cycling the same old locations.

Yes that’s it. Up behind the Hollywood sign. We stopped to talk to a man outside the gate of the communication facility there and a voice came over a speaker telling us to move on. Similar thing in San Diego when we stopped to look at the traffic at the border and we’re told we weren’t allowed to stop, had to keep moving. Weird, but what would you expect?

Yeah that is weird. Only in America. Back to Switzerland..
