That looks like Mt Weld. Are you on Schnells Ridge?
Fri 25 May, 2018 9:00 pm
I see the similarity but no. a long way away.
Sat 26 May, 2018 10:56 am
Is that Heemskirk/Agnew in the back? Can also see some gravel roads lower down.
Sat 26 May, 2018 1:30 pm
That's right on both counts NNW, so where am I?
Sat 26 May, 2018 1:45 pm
What, I have to work that out as well? Some people are never satisfied!
From that side, Dundas, Read, maybe even Murchy. Looks too clear a foreground to be Black. I never had much in the way of views either time I climbed Dundas and I think that might be too far south for that angle, so I'll start with Read.
Sat 26 May, 2018 2:24 pm
I think that road on the ridge in the foreground leads to Read....
Sat 26 May, 2018 4:38 pm
Foreground? The foreground has to be part of the mountain before you get to Read.
But you are right about the road - I drove along it once a long time ago.
Sat 26 May, 2018 5:09 pm
Point taken Eggs, next ridge out. The foreground is part of the mountain I am on. I think we all know where I am, would someone please name it so we can move on, I'm about to go for a walk, won't be back till monday.
Sun 27 May, 2018 5:29 pm
Hey, Eggs. Is it Murchison??
Sun 27 May, 2018 8:19 pm
Well done Tortoise - you should go next.
I have exactly the same view in a shot from the top of Murchison.
I would like to traverse that ridgeline in the foreground one day - down to Lake Sandra.
Sun 27 May, 2018 9:08 pm
Yes, Murchison. The ridgeline is well worth traversing

Thanks Eggs & Last. Been on my list for a long time, but I still haven't got there.
Next one - which lake did I recently visit that hadn't been on my radar?

Not many people will know the (named) lake, but the two Abels in view are well known, and I reckon it can be narrowed down from there. We went over a very easy Abel to get to the rarely visited lake. Hundreds of people would have driven past within 2 kms of the lake that day, but we didn't see anyone after the first 20 minutes or so of our walk.

From your description/clue Tortoise you'd have to be somewhere over the back on Mt Campbell, so perhaps above Carruthers?
Mon 28 May, 2018 9:17 am
Over to you, Geevesy.
Mon 28 May, 2018 9:23 am
Looks like a nice spot.
Don't have any photos on me some I'll open up to whoever would like to partake...

A WAG would say Frenchmans Cap - but a closer look at the background suggests Agamemnon
