I am insanely jealous of anyone who has actually been able to see Gell from Australia Tarn. Conditions like that are just rubbing salt into the wound.

Correct. I can recommend the fagus up that way too, well worth the effort

Ohhh, I got the fagus, no worries about that. I'd just like to be able to see further than ten metres from the Hippogriff and Australia Tarn.

I see a beach. . Is this from the top of the Ironbounds?

It is. I used the image with the bit of beach so it wasn't too hard, but if I'd known you were around it would have been one without.
btw, that's a really marvellous bit of ridgeline up there. Would be interesting to follow further north.

I read an account somewhere of folk heading north over the Ironbounds
- something about one lying down on the bauera while the others walked over his back to then lie down on the next bit of bauera repeat ad nauseum.

How accurate do you want to be. Clearly from Three Capes Track (or is that Two Capes?) somewhere beyond Munro Hut. On the way up The Blade?
Thu 25 Feb, 2021 5:12 pm
Probably on the way down the Blade - but the Blade it is.

Thanks. I did another day walk out there a couple of weeks ago so it's pretty fresh in my mind.
Last weekend I had a fantastic time with perfect weather. Where was I on Day One?

81 views and no nibbles yet? Surely someone could take account of that lake in the picture. Anyway, I skirted around that to visit cunningham. aye, aye!

Lake Daphne?

No, the lake in the picture is slightly west of due north of Lake Daphne - maybe 80 or 100 km.
I am standing on the slopes of an Abel.

Is there a second cunningham around lake salome?
The only cunningham that I know of is right next to lake daphne: :/

That's it. I thought I could count on you to decipher the clues.
Nescient Peak is one of those that you only need to go up once in a lifetime I think but the next day on Mt Rogoona was superb.

I have to thank Google re the clues
It looks very gnarly to me.

Pretty sure you're back on the Tyndalls, Eldon Peak at the back, but I can't work the angles because that near knob looks like Huntley Lookout which doesn't make sense ... I hate this game.

Even with the answers I'm still trying to decipher them
.
I thought it looked Walls-ish from the start, but then got stuck near Lake Daphne with everyone else
.

Its a zoom shot, its not Eldon Peak, and its way south of the Tyndalls

Are you at goon moor looking towards Wylds?
Sat 27 Feb, 2021 8:10 pm
You've broken my brain with that one. I suspect a view of Wylds from Goon Moor is quite impossible?
Definitely not Wylds - in fact the peak in view is not the tallest in the "range".
However, Goon Moor is getting quite close.
