The rock appears to be quartz, i think i can see the sea in the background. Somewhere on the Franklands?

It's also taken in the morning. Looking towards the South East.
I cant find that size cliffs in my photos of the franklands though.

Reeds Peak and the Franklands are too far south.
It is taken in the morning, but is not looking towards the south east.
I'm not sure re the technical difference between quartz and quartzite, but Last is onto something there.

I'm just amazed that none of the others recognised it. That area is so distinctive.

I think you might be looking at Clumner Bluff.
Sat 18 Sep, 2021 6:52 am
Clumner is in a different direction from this spot, but you are in the right area.

I guess you have to know this one to recognise the view.

Are you on Nescient peak, looking at Rogoona?
Sun 19 Sep, 2021 3:31 pm
I am. Or was. The fires really opened up the views on that part of the peak.
Sun 19 Sep, 2021 4:07 pm
I never saw it pre-2016 fires, so I got an easy(er) trip up compared to others.
Anyone else can go.

I think I know this mountain. In fact I remember climbing it once.
It looks a bit like a cradle, and I recall something about white birds and that lake.

Is it Pelion west?

Thanks! Better not make it too hard then, but you need to be within 5 sq/m of where I'm standing

I think we're still looking at Dove Lake, but where from exactly? I should know. Is it the saddle before you drop down to Lake Hanson / go up to Campbell?
