I don't remember seeing one between Mersey Crag and Clumner, although I do agree it's lovely up there.
There's a different Abel around here, but it's not the nearest landmark.

I wondered if there were more of the same. Do you know what they are? This is the one I know:

Is it on Ben Lomond?
Mon 18 Oct, 2021 11:49 am
Not Ben Lomond. First guess was closer. In fact, you might be able to see yours from here if you climbed this one and had a nice long lens.
Something to do with Hydro 'exploration". I've seen similar items in the Snowies. There was another maybe 20 metres closer to the landmark in question, but it had burnt down, fallen over and was trying to rust back into the ground.

is it somewhere near Western Bluff?
Mon 18 Oct, 2021 4:28 pm
If it was, what do you think the named very-much-not-a-mountain landmark might be?

Gun Lagoon?

Thanks NNW, when I examined the map I wondered why no firearm witticisms had been used already
.
Going a bit old school:
- Zoomed over Lake Webster from Tarn Shelf, Mt Field NP via Westerway

Enough!!! You’re all just shooting off at the mouth!
Now, that picture. Is it in Mt Field National Park? Is that Lake Belton? From the slopes of Tyenna Peak?

It's not Belton or Tyenna but you're in the right locality Graham. Just need to set your sights differently

Close enough eggs, and yes to the zoom. From vague memory I'm somewhere near Johnston Tarn.

More than generous John.
That will be Lake Webster below with Davis Lookout the high point at back.
I mistakenly thought the LHS block was part of Mt Bridges - but it will be the next block north below the Lake Newdegate Track
Which places you about midway along the Tarn Shelf, close to James Tarn.
Next:
- On the way to High Camp - Mt Eliza 2011

Looks like I hand this one to you, NNW.
Climbing Mt Eliza 2011 - before the track closures

More importantly, before the fires.
They're still working on it, but at least it's starting to look like a track again.
Where has this monstrosity been plonked?

I would have accepted Tarn Shelf eggs, so your answer was fine. I also mistakenly thought Mt Bridges, and In hindsight I'm correcting again after reviewing my photos, timestamps and Listmap.
I believe I may be next to Backhouse Tarn, based on this I took a couple of minutes later. Also lines up with a wider shot I took towards Davis Lookout.
NOT a game photo. Current game photo is above:
