24hrs and no guesses yet, I didnt think this was going to be very hard.
It is not an obscure lake. Just a few of the land marks around it are hidden by the low cloud.

I think I see a building off in the distance, which - total stab in the dark cloud - could be Pumphouse Point, which puts you somewhere on the side of leeawuleena aka Lake St Clair.

If it is Lake St Clair - I would think maybe from the boat looking towards Narcissus?
Fri 19 Nov, 2021 5:40 pm
Not Lake St Clair . I thought that might fool you, that is snow on the other side.
Sat 20 Nov, 2021 2:36 pm
I think this is the longest I have gone without an answer. The lake use to be on a fairly busy track but these days ppl use a different route

I still have nothing. Photo makes it look like a biggish lake, but that doesn't really help. Fenton? Webster? Can't see how they fit the clue. Skinner is still the main way up Snowy South. Not big enough to be Fossil and that's still the usual route up Mueller. Australia Tarn was never that busy (and it's still part of the most common route), nor is it Dixon or Hermione. Rodway is still busy as, Dove even more so. Meston, Adelaide, Bill, Myrtle, Ball, Chalice .. none fits the clue.
It will end up being one of those "duh! should have realised" ones, but without more to go on I'm stumped.

There's something of significance behind us, but I really want to talk about having a seafood dinner tonight.
