Closer.
I never said I was heading for the Abel that's out of view.

Heading off Chalice Lake track - your peak out of view might be Bishop?
Tue 19 Mar, 2024 5:57 pm
Colder again. Nor is Bishop an Abel.
This is interesting as I really thought this one would go fairly quickly, given the regular use the track in question gets.

You're not heading for Oana are you?
Tue 19 Mar, 2024 7:29 pm
Colder again. I do sometimes use fairly well-trodden tracks to get to suitable points to head off elsewhere.

Mt Moriah? From the Lake Ball track?
Wed 20 Mar, 2024 6:19 am
At last we're on the right track, but on the wrong bit of it. I'm not climbing onto a peak.

Are you looking up at the end of The Great Pine Tier from near Lake Ball. That would have the ridge leading to Mt Jerusalem.
Wed 20 Mar, 2024 4:48 pm
Not looking towards the GPT or Jerusalem although if I was where you said and I was facing the same compass heading as in the shot, I would be looking up towards them.

Maybe the other end of the Lake Ball track? At or near the intersection with the Junction Lake track, facing ENE-ish with the left ridge leading towards King Davids Peak (which is an Abel)?

Close enough. I left the track near the saddle at the western end of Ball, heading south, and this is looking north.

My only walk along there I was more fascinated with Lake Ball and those cushion plants near the west end, don't think I even looked north. Were you heading for that small tarn?

Good thing there aren't too many peaks with helipads and trigs that close together.
