Neither the Fainters or Jaitmathangs, although I'd been on both in the preceding few days. Feathertop not in view but would be a short walk away and looking in a different direction.

Looks like the Big Fella.
Gonna take a punt and say you are coming down the AAWT to the chain.

Yep good enough. Actually between nelse and ropers, not far from the previous photo. Chain accross Big River still a way away but Bogong is the key detail.

Well thank f* for that.
I immediately thought it was Bogong, but everyone else was going for other peaks so naturally assumed my usual *&%$#! memory for landmarks was at work.

Well, that's Feathertop behind the Fainter ridge, which I think puts you on Spion Kopje.

I seem to remember camping up next to that pole - not in snow, though there were a few sheets still around - maybe the Jaithmathangs.

You ... aren't sure where you were camping ... ?

But yes, Jaithmathangs, that's the high point up there and I'm fairly sure that even without the snow it's campable. More fun with snow, however.

It was one of my most memorable spots.
But I do not know how many poles like that are out there.

In SA - name of the mountain in view.

Another distinctively shaped mountain in SA, especially in the context of the adjoining shapes. Not as frequently visited as Chambers Gorge, so I might need to offer some clues.
