Absolute correct JohnW, good detective work. Yes it was rather obscure, the rock in question is something of a local "thing" and I naively assumed it is more widely known. Over to you.

Thanks Greg. I've visited most places around there, but not that one.

Since I was there recently I'll try WA again. I need to get some mileage from my photos.
Some signage editing for obvious reasons:

Well I can :). Correct Tyreless, yes in hindsight I could have obscured it better.
Castle Rock in Meelup Regional Park near Dunsborough, a short walk from Castle Rock Beach.

I was thinking maybe Dicky Coopers, but it's been too many years since I was in that part of the country.

I went through there in deep mist.
Quite a mystical feel, but missed the view of the cliffs.

Next - where in SA are these petroglyphs?

I tend to agree with you. But when I recognised your scene, I responded in haste.

Lots more rock in my picture, also in SA. A walking track is visible, and the photograph was taken from another walking track, looking down to a named creek. What are any or all of those names?

The walking tracks are not named per se, but they form parts of named circuit walks. These routes have checkpoint indicators and distance markers. In other words, this location is easily visited. Finally, there are two different names given for this creek on different maps. The spring on the creek however has but one name.

Pure guess: ( not Mt Gambier ...), if it's well known and visited then possibly Bollabollana Ck near Arkaroola ? Never been there, only Mawson Plateau and Gammons. There's a beautiful tourst poster of this creek that I would not have expected to be in such an arid, hilly landscape. And a water hole further north, too dangerous to swim in for radiation, close to a Uranium mine.

You are not far off. This a bit further south from Bollabollana.

Both names for the creek begin with the letter W.

That's correct, eggs. This creek is named as Wortupa on the Walking Trails Support Group map, but I think that is incorrect. I understand that Wortupa Creek (commencing at Wortupa Spring, further north) joins Weetootla Creek near McTaggart Track. The other walking route I mentioned is the one through Balcanoona Gorge.

I have walked through from Weetootla campground to Grindalls - but that side trip looks nice.

Lets try one from Queensland
