I agree with eggs. Lets keep this game as is. We can all self police the game and shout out when we think we have had a long string of NSW shots. While I mostly post NSW pics I get a lot of joy seeing all the other photos from around the country.

Unfortunately I'm about to head out for a few days, so anyone else who has a photo that isn't in NSW can go.

I gotta do more!

You don't have to bushwalk in these places to play the game. Some people win by researching the photo - the angle of the sun, the geology, the hydrology, the vegetation, where the person posting it tends to go bushwalking, similar photos on Google Images, etc. Others aim to sleuth the clues which are sometimes provided by the player if there have been no guesses for a while.

That’s true ribuck but it’s a better feeling when you know you have stood exactly where the photographer is standing...especially in those more remote locations.

It's a bit of a buzz to research an image and be so inspired you make sure you go to see it for yourself.

Yes and no. For example, Commando put one up a few weeks ago that was pretty challenging, it was a picture of a marina just the same as any one of a million others but there was a tiny warship away in the backgrounds with an even tinier number on the bows which led, via some research, straight to that ship's home port. On the other side of the coin, there have been many other images showing a chunk of landscape which could be just about anywhere and any amount of research, reverse Google image search or clairvoyance won't help, you will only known the answer if you happen to have been there yourself.
Still, its a fun game and you get to see what other people get up to in their spare time :) so I will keep playing.

I agree that some I give up on very quickly. There were some basic rules when the games were started that have fallen well by the wayside, but so be it.

There is another very useful task these photographs can serve. Eggs hinted at this above. Search on the name of a place you are not familiar with but are considering travelling to. You may see some images that provide good info about what to expect. Taken from a bushwalker's perspective, not from that of a generic "tourist".

Climbing it has been discussed on this forum as a worthwhile side-trip while on the Larapinta.

I agree with all the comments above, sometimes I don't bother unless I've been there before. Sometimes like the case in hand, I like to see if I can't work it out or make an (un)educated guess.

Are you looking at Arenge Bluff?

Sydney Opera House, after an earthquake?

Edit: I have now seen WFBW's post, so I will say Sydney Opera House after an EF5 tornado landed it in the Ramsheads.

You could be right, I thought he may be closer to Alice Rawson. Not that much between them though.

One is very close to where I am standing and the other I'm looking at.

Mt Townsend was originally called Kosci before they worked out that the peak across the valley was higher.

Yes, I'd read about that previously. Apparently caused confusion for a long time after Strzelecki was credited with the first official ascent of Kosciuskzo, due to mis-labelling on some early maps and that fact that Townsend "looks" higher. Not difficult, but definitely more of an adventure to climb Townsend.

You cut a very imposing figure eggs, and with some serious looking photographic gear. I found a similar looking image on Environment SA (minus yourself :)), Alligator Gorge?

NSW, this walk is between two mountains. I started from the towers on the one in view and I'm about to ascend the other.
If you name this one you should easily get the other and the name of the track:
