Hoping someone else might jump in but it's very slow. I still haven't managed to do this walk.
I believe it will be Kahlpahlim Rock (aka Lambs Head) in the Atherton Tableland.

Nice, I'm sure we'll be back there again but no firm plans right now.

I'll push my luck with another one from QLD:

Yes it would, viewed from the summit. A nice loop track takes you up here then back down via a side trip to the lighthouse (optional).

OK- Time for a clue or 2.

This is a lookout on the way across a remarkable park. Found it a I left the east side of the park with its crocadillian ravine and was going to the West side to find a hidden ravine.

Looks very Glasshouse Mountainish to me. So as a WAG I'd say Mt Coonowrin.

Similar sort of country. But this spot is about 200 m higher in altitude and about 100 km ENE.

And that extra elevation of course makes this spot more useful for Skiing.

It would be a longish drive from Melbourne to go skiing at this location. Stirling, Buller and so on are obviously easier to access. But what if you were driving from rural parts? For example, a town that experienced a massive upheaval due to a wet event (a gradual and not sudden one) that had nothing to do with snow?

Sorry, when my clues take up three lines, I do realise that need to choose more obvious locations!

Assuming Tallangatta experienced a very long immersion event and working off 100kms ENE I can only conclude Burrowa- Pine Mountain area.

Which doesn't make sense regarding your clue on elevation. So I'm now thinking Hollow Hut Eskdale Spur track.

GregR, this has got a bit convoluted, but the 100 km distance and the 200 m elevation was in relation your first reply, Telephone Box Junction. Not Tallangatta, which you correctly identify as the flooded town I was hinting at.

Just to clarify, I hope.

All I was saying (and stating the bleeding obvious) was that getting to this spot to go skiing would be a long trip from Melbourne, but it’s a lesser distance from, e.g., Albury, Bairnsdale, Cudgewa . . .

Re-checking my measurement of the distance, I’d change that to about 95 km.
