Wild bit of gear that creek, I'm going to get into it if this rain ever stops!

General area will get you the pass but specific where the pic was snapped will credit you with guru status.

Well you're looking at Mt Jellore in the distance so I'm assuming Ahearns is off to the left somewhere.
So maybe on the eastern side of the Nattai somewhere near Surveyors Crag?

Yeah from Nattai Road maybe, where it drops into the valley? I've only ever followed the river down from Slott/Starlights etc and met the road in the valley itself, so the view isn't familiar to me.

You ARE the guru Tyreless….correct.

I’ve heard it called Russell’s lookout before, obviously in reference to the proximity of Russell’s needle.

That's the answer I was after - but to be honest I am not sure if I am correct. The photo was taken looking north from just below Mac Springs, before the saddle that takes you across towards Mt Howitt. I think Mt Speculation is on the left, but stand to be corrected.

Either way, the floor belongs to johnw.

Thanks Tyreless. I can't elucidate either, just deduced it from the clues and map.

Strictly speaking no. But I'll pay it as they're only five or six hundred metres away on the same escarpment with much the same outlook.
This is at the end of Kangaroo Ridge Trail also in Barren Grounds NR, aka Drawing Room Rocks Trail in some old notes I have.
But I believe you have to access DRR itself from a separate track.

I've also been up the top, but not from down here on this river destination walk.
Which is probably a few kms behind me (as the photographer).

Umm, yes Greg. My vague clue was meant to allude to the watercourse visited being not large (in name).
