Don’t know that I’ve been to Lake Surprise…. Looks to be near the Mt Eccles campground?

Anyhow, another local-ish site and not too challenging. Where am I standing?

I think you are maybe north of Boroko Peak in the Grampians but I can't name the location.

Indeed it is. Blowhole Beach Deep Creek NP, part of the Hans Heysenn Trail, not the non existant Sidney Nolan track...

Only that my photos tend to be either ultra-obvious touris style, or totally obscure…. This one’s back in SW Vic.

Eremophila, I reckon your choice of a location for a photograph is just as viable as anyone else's. Post what ever takes your fancy, and let us get on with the guessing. One of the intrinsic things about this game surely must be that we all get to learn more about the country.

I don't recognise any detail in this location, but I'll take a guess at somewhere near Mt Napier.

It had the right flavour. I went there in my BC era. Before i had a Camera.

Here's another photograph from Victoria. It is on the AAWT. Name the creek which this section of the track follows.

There is a reference to this spot in Chapman, Chapman and Siseman's Australian Alps Walking Track.

GregR, go ENE. When I mentioned a reference, I should have said a very brief description, not simply a name.

It's not Long Gully. I've checked Chapman, Chapman and Siseman, and can't see a Long Gully anywhere between Morass Creek and NSW. So can't provide any further info.

Correct, GBW. Halfway between Limestone Creek Track and Cowombat Flat Track. This is a lovely section of the AAWT.

Here's the description (p.148) I mentioned above:

Ahead is an open grassy hill of limestone upon which few trees grow, its higher slopes providing a view of the country to the north.

You're in the general area WFBW but this is north of Valentines. Another track intersects this track here coming from the north. There was once a hut here.
