Time for a clue. Part of a much larger historic site near a "ghost" town.
Like the previous photo they refined something here, but it wasn't gold.
Well at least what they produced wasn't in a solid form.

We started from Newnes campground which is not far from those ruins, but this location is about 11 km and roughly a 4 hour walk away.

Looking for some rock in keeping with the recent theme, I found this. If you squint hard enough you'll see a trig marker on the highest point. (The actual highest location is the lump on the right, not the left. My editing software wasn't working properly, so I could not make the required adjustment.) What is the name of this Victorian feature?
