Where is it (the spot that I'm standing). Clues: It's in NSW. Maybe a bit of a theme going today?

I just thought i might point out to people that quite a few of the pics have the file name at the bottom that actually name the picture location ... now i know that we are trying to make it easy but that might be a tad too easy ! (i'm assuming that other people could see those names as well?) i do enjoy looking at the pictures though and puzzling over the ones i dont know :P

I think you'll find that when photos are first added, they do not have location captions, and after the image has been successfully guessed, the poster goes back and names the photo.
See HERE
Specifically,
When the Photographer's turn ends, either because a winner has been found or by defaulting, the photographer should add the correct answer as a caption to the photo he/she posted (see 'Adding a Caption' this page) OR, by clearly posting the answer in the post that confirms the winner.

Thanks for that Adam, the same question was raised in the Tassie game recently, so I guess newer members may not be aware of it.

Next one. I think NSW may be dominating a bit, let's switch to QLD this time. Should be pretty easy so I'd like the name both of these. Bonus point if you can provide both official and common name/s. Another bonus point if you can name the peak I'm standing on.

I don't think it's mount Warning - too tall, and there's no peak like that behind it, but gee the area looks similar.

I think doogs means Beerwah (in the distance). Crookneck is the closest and you are standing on Ngungun. I think the real name for Crookneck is Coonorwin.

I have to give it to isoma as the first complete and accurate answer. Yes, the peaks are Mt Coonowrin (Crookneck) in the foreground with Mt Beerwah behind and I'm standing on Mt Ngungun (or Ngun Ngun).

ILUVSWTAS I'm fairly sure Crookneck can't be climbed safely without ropes. One of the climbers around here might know better. I believe it was closed to (legal) climbing around 1999 due safety and stability concerns.

isoma your turn.

ILUV and johnw - Crookneck can be climbed without ropes, though these days the peak is "closed" due to concerns about its stability. There are (were) quite a few roped climbs as well.

OK next one then.

Me too.

To complete a photo of a landmark in each of the states and territories we still need a photo from SA, NT and ACT.

Tony,

calm down - we are only on page 2! There will be plenty more to come.
Though I might leave the ACT photos to you. :)

I don't remember those facilities at Bluff Knoll, but I was there 27 years ago...
