I think we can narrow this down if you can give us a few more clues.

I assume you have stayed there yourself. Was it on a climbing trip? There are some well-known climbers' caves in the upper Blue Mtns. Was it close to a road, or was it at the end of a day's walk? Is this photo showing the whole of the cave, or is there more sleeping space behind the photographer? At the edge of the cave is there a steep drop or just a slope?

My closest guesses are: (1) Upper Psyn Cave, just off Narrow Neck Road. This cave has a distinctive square fireplace edged with concrete blocks, so you might remember that. (2) Sundeck Cave, just west of Mt Piddington, which has sunlit trees near the cave as in your photo. (3) The cave just above Crayfish Creek, near Hanging Rock.

Two other possibilities that I haven't visited recently are (a) Lower Psyn Cave, accessed via Devils Hole - but this cave is not used as much nowadays because constant dust-fall and reduced "gardening" has left the floor more unlevel than it used to be. (b) Greenfields Cave atop Mt Solitary, a small cave away from Chinamans Gully.

My first thoughts were Mt Solitary. Will have to check some old photos to be sure.

I'd rule of those two.

This named cave is in Upper Blue Mtns, however it's on private property. It contains a few non-combustible historical items.

I don't suppose it could be Darke's cave? Maybe, maybe not.

I've been to Dr Darks a couple of times Roger. Some resemblance to the outer cave, but I reckon no.
