Guidance is sought. A person committed suicide in the bush between Laggan and Dead Cows Creek in NSW. The family wishes to calculate the distance between the start point and where we believe the end point of a suicide is over the course of no more than five hours.

This is off road with some rugged country. We have the end point at sunset and the start time.

We know the area but are not bushwalkers, and need to find more details. Google Earth and the like are inadequate for our purposes. Information is sought regarding high ridges, small streams, the most impassable areas that only the most avid bushwalker would know and visit.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and I'm happy with private messages.

You may need to bump this to the top now and then to catch those who would be that familiar with the BM.
Maybe someone experienced should go with you. Have you contacted the clubs (SUBW etc)?
It may help to give a hint to your involvement, family? press? etc.

The area between Laggan and Dead Cow Creek does not look like it has much bush. It's mostly farm land. Not the sort of area that would be likely to be visited by bushwalkers.

It looked like a road connected the two areas mentioned..

This is a really strange thread. It seems the OP is hoping to locate someone in the bush who is believed deceased?

The OP is after details leading up to the suicide. The deceased went from Laggan to Dead Cows Creek or nearby, and the OP wishes to attempt to identify where the person probably went and the distance. It may assist to know if the deceased was a bushwalker. If not, maybe he or she would take the line of least resistance, on roads and tracks, and around scrub, especially the thicker sort.

The issue is, could the person have travelled the distance to where their body was found, by travelling alone on foot.

Or was someone else involved. When the person left the property, did they get into a car driven by someone else, that made the distance travelled from the property possible.

I have a bit of knowledge about this distressing case, through a friend of the deceased.

My understanding is that the deceased started at Laggan and walked to Dead Cows Creek. Laggan is not very big in population, and may not be big in area. i do not know. The OP has no internet access at times. If in doubt, send a private message. The OP knows how these work.

I understand this was likely a difficualt question to ask but it seems there is likely some confusion within this thread and i too am somewhat confused.

I dont believe the missing person has been found/ located yet. Searching news reports and social media there is no news of her being located and there is a heartbreaking amount of posts on social media from her family to this day that i have read and taken to indicate she is still missing.

I assume the OP is asking for help in identifying 'special' places someone might visit in hope of finding her remains. Assuming she committed suicide at/ by sunset, she had 5 hours to herself (time between leaving her property and sun set).

Best wishes to all involved and i hope you get some closure. Please delete this post if im wrong or if its crossed any lines i dont mean to be insensitive in any way.

I agree with Neil, this does create some confusion as I read an article in the Crookwell Gazette posted yesterday that she was still missing. A fund has been set up to assist with the continued search for her. There seems to be an assumption of suicide from the OP and a hint of concerns for her mental state in media articles. Extensive ground searches have failed to locate any trace. Police will be looking at any suspicious circumstance in this matter. I doubt there is much we can do on these pages to assist the family with the information provided.

Contact Bushwalkers Wilderness Rescue (now known as Bush Sea and Rescue Association) - that might be able to help you. But as previous posts say the police are responsible for this type of thing. http://www.bsar.org.au
