Not sure if you've been before but the creek itself flows through the middle of the campsite. Usually there is water there but can dry up if there hasn't been much rain. Regardless, better to follow it up stream 100m or so to get away from any pollution that could come from the campsite. You're also more likely to come across a better pool and trickle when it's dry if you head up.

I do remember chatting to a Parks Ranger at Dex Ck some years ago. He was collecting all the toilet paper scattered around the campsite. I think he was also burying the poo left lying around at the campsite.
You are STRONGLY advised to purify the water there if you don't want to get ill. Purification technique to be used up to you, but it had better be robust,
