Scrubbers Saddle?

Postby msmithers » Mon 21 Aug, 2023 8:25 am

Does anyone have a GPS track for climbing from Cox River to Scrubbers Saddle?

On the weekend we just did Dunphys to Cox via Carlon Creek and Breakfast Creek, then returned via Ironpot Mountain. As reconnaissance for future trips we crossed the Cox River and tried climbing to Scrubbers Saddle, but the terrain was a little too steep and loose. (Maybe we were in the wrong spot?)

I've only done it the once - you can see the route of where we descended.

What was the scrub/regrowth like on Iron Pot? Can you still follow the footpad?

From memory (so caution!), the old route from Scrubbers to the Coxs went NE from the saddle, and the route into Jenolan R went SW.
But those old tracks may not be visible any more.

Cheers

Thanks Rob, Tom.

Fine. Surprisingly obvious and well trodden. In the steeper section up from Cox River we lost the track in a few spots but it's all about following the ridge, so re regained the track within ~10 metres.
