Looks like they're going to pump some money into fencing off the prom, upgrading some tracks, and a new visitor hub that smells of pumping public funds into private hands (I'm a cynic).

Can't say I object to fencing off the prom and removing deer and ferals.
They can then release Tassie Devils and the fence will stop cockies from complaining about sheep being eaten by them.

Being a bit of language nerd, this tickled some nerdy part of my brain:

Peninsula means 'almost island', so it's something like an island.
The prom is a peninsula.

Ruchel makes the obvious point that while the fence is good it's really the ongoing work removing pests that is less 'announceable' and in great danger of not being fully funded into the future.

Agreed, governments of all stripes seem to underfund Parks.

There are very few fences that will keep foxes out, they are good diggers,
cats can jump straight up a 6 foot fence,
deer is not predatory to wildlife,
sounds like greenie appeasement and lots of hope

While deer are not predatory, they eat and trample native plants, spread weeds and displace the wildlife that compete with them. Getting/keeping them out of of NPs is a good move.
