Mt Beauty day walks

Postby Baeng72 » Wed 03 Mar, 2021 6:33 pm

I'm going to be taking the family up to Mt Beauty soon, not camping, but looking for a not too hard walk we can do.
I suggested the Staircase spur up and back to my wife, she suggested castration and divorce.
So, maybe something less ambitious.
Are there scenic walks that a fat *&%$#! recovering from a broken foot (mostly good), with non hiking wife and kids can walk?
I was thinking drive up to Falls Creek and look around, maybe a walk around Mt Beauty.
Also, I reckon the walk around Mountain Creek campground is one possibility. I walked there the night before I walked up Mt. Bogong.
We will probably Checkout Tawonga Gap lookout.

A couple of really easy walks they might like are Fainters Falls near Bogong Village (2km return)
Ropers Lookout at Falls Creek from the eastern end of the dam wall (4km return).
Then there is Tawongs Huts from Pretty Valley pondage car park (8km return). Very scenic.
The Mt. Cope walk from the Mt. Cope carpark. Great views. (3.5km return)
A really nice one is Wallaces Hut from the carpark through to the Rovers Lodge then Cope Hut then loop back on the track through some magnificent snow gums to Wallaces hut and back to your car.
It's easy walking and you get to see a couple of huts as well. The loop is about 6.5km.

Ditto +1
for above.
:-)

The BHP area has super easy walks , huts, snow gums and views and they can be used as beginner/intermediate XC ski routes in season too.

With the right car( AWD/ 4WD) you can get up to the locked gate of Big Hill from Cranky Charlie on the Falls Creek road. From there to the top of Big Hill is about 3 kms , mostly up hill.

File under not flat , not for the unfit .

Redundant. Surely one or the other would suffice.

I saw something like this when I looked it up, but Parks site doesn't mention it's closed.

A quick but lovely trip up to Mt Beauty/BHP.
I hope to get up there for a hike not too far in the future.
