Too bad the Brisbane Times used the wrong picture - that is Mt Coonowrin (better known as Crookneck). It has been closed to climbing for years.

Weather here has been very poor, visibility at elevation down to a couple of meters and less at times with steady rain.
I wouldn't have attempted anything remotely steep over the last few days that's for sure!!

Apart from a short slabby section near the base, Beerwah is a fairly easy climb. It's pretty unusual for anyone to get in trouble there, but choose the wrong route on the descent and you can quickly find yourself in an untenable position.
Inexperienced climbers much more likely to get in trouble on Tibrogargan.
Coonowrin was closed in 1999 for "safety reasons". That doesn't seem to deter serious climbers. It played a big part in Australia's early climbing history.

Yes indeed Ron, I have to admit in climbing them all and agree on the descent.

What a difference a day makes. One has to question the decision making process attached to their climb!
