Blackfellow Falls....

Postby ofuros » Wed 08 Aug, 2012 9:40 am

Just an enquiry....
Has anyone had a mooch over to Blackfellow Falls, Goomburra section, Main range NP, lately ?
Accessed via Mt Castle Lookout carpark...near the Winder Track start point.
Following the cliff line all the way to the Amphitheatre & Blackfellow Falls.
Are the falls still flowing at the moment ?
I'd be disappointed if I got there & the falls were dry.....

Cheers,
Marc.

Hey Marc
I can't tell you if the falls are flowing but I did stroll the Winder Track on Sunday and noted the falls and Amphitheatre feature on the map. There were some muddy patches along the track, but it was not as moist as I imagine it gets there, since we have (finally) had a dry spell for the month. I did do the Cascades circuit a couple of weeks ago, just after the last big rain and it was lovely out there. Sorry I can't tell you much about whether there is water on the falls though, but if you use the winder track, wear long pants or gaiters, as the stinging nettles were taking over!
Cheers
Andrew

Thanks for the latest on track feedback Andrew,
I enjoyed the cascades walk too.....& the exposed area between my gaiters & shorts, remembers the
winder track stingers. :)

I'll just have to suck it & see, when the time comes....
.....once I hit the cliff line I should be able to get glimpses
of the falls.

Cheers,
Marc.

Should have looked at this old advice as have just done the Winder in shorts and stung (as well as the wild pigs in the area)
