Newbie climbing Mt. Barney

Does anyone have any advice for my friend and I, who are planning to climb Mt.Barney in spring this year? We plan to camp near the top somewhere and come back down the next day. We have reasonable experience with long distance hiking in NSW, especially the Blue Mountains, but have never really walked in QLD before.
I understand it helps to bring some rope for hauling packs up and down rocky bits. From a brief look at the QLD nat parks map, walking up from Yellow Pinch Reserve via South Ridge seems to be a safe bet. But other than that, I am venturing into the unknown!, looking forward to it :)
