Western Arthurs loop - how many days?

Postby tjsquire » Mon 28 Jan, 2013 9:54 pm

Hi all! I've been looking here for much of the 3.5 years I've lived in Tassie - now ready to step up from exploring Cradle and the Central Plateau to something more SW. I can take a week or so with bro travelling from NSW in April, and am trying to decide just how long we need to allow for a trip into the Western Arthurs or Mt Anne? Would love to try Federation Pk, but maybe too long for interstate visitors to allow for flights?
Would appreciate your input guys! Airfare specials ending tomorrow night ;-) (Also thinking flights in/out of Hobart might be better than Launie (though I live NW).

You've chosen some good options in the SW.
If your pace and the weather are good you can do a full traverse of the Western Arthurs in a week. If slower or bad weather slows you down you could exit the traverse at K moraine in the same time.

Mt Anne circuit is awesome and shorter so gives more flexibility with time. Maybe this with a few daywalks?

Yeh it depnds on alot, I know someone who's done the WA's in 48 hrs, but also know folk who take 12 days....

The days will be a lot shorter by April too.
Nothing to see here.
