I am enjoying day trips from Hobart this March, last week Riveaux and Florentine, yesterday a sunny autumn day on the Sentinels.
A late start with a coffee stop at the Possum shed to arrive at the car park after 12. Picked up the track easily at the Wedge river site and steeply up the slopes in the heat. Luckily in the shade under the cliffs. Across to the airy but secure ridge and onto the summit. Slightly hazy but glorious views all around. I ate my lunch, crusty fresh bread and tasmanian brie followed by home made orange and almond cake. Not bothered with the dried fruit and nuts this time! Alot of pink climbing heath. Back to the car around 4 pm. Looking forward to Mt Wright, the Druids, Cullen, Sawback range and Tyenna among others.

Nice work allround C. Great weather, slice of Tassie and lunch. I have been meaning to get up there for a while now and have it booked in for May. Sounds like a great afternoon!

Hi D
The Sentinels are up there in my favourite shorter tassie day walks.

Agreed..I have been up here 4 times (including once en route to the Coronets) & also think it's one of the classic SW short walks.
It's worth exploring other parts of this little range as the off track walking is generally easy (if steep) & clear of scrub.
The trip to the Coronets is another matter tho
Thanks for sharing :D
