Cradle Summit

Postby aarob » Sun 08 Sep, 2019 8:39 am

Hey!
Thursday was finally the day I made it to the top in the snow. Have turned back twice prior. First time due to me naively underestimating the mountain and being under prepared, then due to weather. This time, with spikes on and axe in hand, things ended differently.
The traverse in the photos was pretty sketchy, hard ice which needed stairs to be cut, then soft spring type snow which was super slippery and difficult to get traction. Either way, it was a *&%$#! great day and pleased to get there before the snow melts away for another year.

See you at the top, Andy

looks like it was lovely weather

What sort of spikes did you use?
This makes me the first man to climb Mount Everest backwards, without oxygen...or even a jumper.

I have Edelrid ones - pretty happy with them so far, but I'm not as adventurous as you. :)
