Mt Olympus via Mt Orthys from Lake St Claire.

Just wondering if it is possible to traverse the ridgeline along Mt Orthys to get to Mt Olympus? It looks reasonable on google earth but I've made that mistake before!

First, the name is Othrys, not Orthys.

It depends how directly you want to go. You can't climb straight up the cliffs on Olympus unless you're Spiderman, but sidling a little to either east or west and using one of the steep green ramps just north of the cliffs is doable. Othrys ridgeline is a little slow - it's a typical untidy line of minor towers and rock outcroppings, with the occasional patch of scrub. Saddle is a little scrubbier, but not too bad. Once under the cliffs it's clearer and the climb itself quite open, much like the plateau.

Thought you might mention St Clair as well. One of us pedants had to say it. But I thought I'd leave it for someone that had some useful info to share.

 I was so fixated on Orthys I didn't get that far.
At least it wasn't Lake Sinclair, which I've seen in 40 South, of all publications.

Probably reasonable but certainly not the easiest route, that'd be from Byron Gap. I've been up Othrys before and would agree that the ridge is slow with lots of up and down between rock towers.

Louis managed to go from Olympus to Othrys during his 158 Abels challenge.

So it's doable.

I think Zane Robnik did it as well, though I'm not sure if his blog is still available.

I have also been considering this route as a possibility for next time I am down in Tas
I found this video to be helpful in planning https://youtu.be/sx-QwJX7HeM. Some beautiful shots indeed.
See in particular the image at the ~2:30 mark which indicates the indicative route up from the Othrys - Olympus saddle onto the southern Olympus plateau

Thanks for the advice and I really appreciate the spelling corrections.
I think I'll drop that ideer off the list. Might just walk down the Curvier Valley.

Toushay. I reckon Plan B will be more enjoyable. Subject to the depth of mud. It is better than it used to be, with some track work done. It can be a delightful walk in the valley.
