Hi,
I leave for India on Monday 29/9/14. I am going fully kitted up to do the lake Mani Mahesh Parikrama circuit. It is listed in the Lonely Planet Trekking in the Indian Himalaya book .
Has anybody out there done this one before? It crosses a pass in the Pir Panjal Range at just over 4700 M.
I am going with a firm called Anna Tours and Adventures who are located in Brahmour, which is the village where the trek starts and finishes.
I have hiked and trekked a fair bit in the Australian Alps in Summer and winter but this will be my first Indian multi night trek. I am very fit, I have been to Himachal Pradesh many times before and I will be taking my full kit except a tent.

These people have to provide something for their fees!

Any comments or good advice are welcome.

Hi
I did the 30 kms + Lake Manimahesh trek last month. I am back now. It starts in Hadsa at 2200 M and leads up to Lake ManiMahesh, a small pond at 4130 M high in the Manimahesh Kailash/Pir Panjal range of the Indian Himalaya. That was my first Indian high altitude trek. Because of the oxygen shortage It was physically tough but well worth it. I hired two porters and a guide from Anna Travels in Bharmour in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh.
I can recommend their services whole heartedly .
I will go back to Northern India in about two years and do the Gangotri glacier trek in Uttarakhand and head up to the meadow at Tapovan( 4600 M).
I wouldn't bother with the rest of India. I have been all over India 6 times and the Himalaya is the best bit.
