Major Mitchell Plateau - water

Postby bernieq » Thu 19 Mar, 2015 2:26 pm

Not long back from MMP (12 Mar 2015) and thought a couple of things were worth mentioning.

No water at 1st Wannon (other than small puddles in the creek bed). It will take a substantial rain to get the creek flowing again.

Rubbish - it was really disappointing to see toilet paper strewn throughout the campsite and even upstream. I had thought the effort to reach 1st Wannon campsite would screen out all the stupid people - I'm obviously wrong.

The big blue discarded tent has already been noted in another thread (and it's still there)

Otherwise, it was, as usual, a good 2-day trip.

Yes, it is a good pack carrying walk and i love a revisit. This reminds me of the possibility that some water can be collected from rock-holes located near the campsite if it rains.
