Nice report and photos.
The tree skeletons are a bit melancholy.
Reminds me of the walk up Feathertop.

The forest out there is growing back but dead falling trees blocking the unsealed 4 x 4 roads that allow access to the Back country up there will continue to be a problem for decades to come. I would not take a 2WD up there nor would I go without suitable tools to cut your way out if confronted with a fallen widow maker tree on the road.

Beautiful little firewood trees (if completely dead). :D

I can remember going to Keppel's HUt once over 50 years ago and IIRC, we got there, or maybe nearly there, by Holden. The other time I remember (there may be others) I walked, but don't remember for how far. Accompanied by my pre teen (at the time) daughter so probably not far, and I think we overnighted in the hut.

Pretty close for me, so I need to stir my stumps and return. Thanks for the memory jog. :D
