You can read an account of these two day walks in the Buller/ Howitt section of the Alpine N.P. by clicking on this web link.

https://www.ski.com.au/xf/threads/the-b ... st-5345988

You can see photos of the two walks we did. The Walk from the Bluff Hut to the Bluff Summit was easy.

The Western Ridge trek up and Down Mt. Buller was Hard.

PM me if you want details on how to locate the starting point for the Mt. Buller Western Ridge hike.
Do not plan to do this on
a day if it is hot, wet, windy , foggy or icy . You need a dry clear day with 8 hours of good daylight to complete the route up and back .
I would say it is not for
beginners in bushwalking.

Nice one PCV. A bit light on photos, battery trouble?
At first I thought this was the Klingsporn (spelling?) track, but that starts in Mirimbah and I don't think it's that challenging.
I note that you didn't walk from 8 mile flat to the Bluff Hut up 8 mile spur, thus providing a higher type of fun. :D

I have added some more photos just for you . We did not hike to the Bluff summit from 8 Mile Flat .I will do that again one day in the future and try to find the foot route down 14 mile spur to Ritchie's hut.
On this trip Driving up to the Bluff Hut in my RAV 4 was always going to be quicker and time only allowed a day pack walk .
