Lake Mountain 16 km Loop day hike.27th Nov. 2023

You can read a trip report with photos by clicking on the above web link.

The walk is easy to do as a day loop .Allow six hours including a break for food at Keppel's hut.
It is not that interesting walking on fire trails but the birds were singing and the air was clean and many plants were in bloom.
The weather was not hot which always makes for more enjoyable walking.
Maybe try walking this loop clock wise so that the last section becomes a simple downhill walk along the Royston return ski trail.
Walking anti clock wise the last climb up from the concrete bridge at the Upper Taggerty River is not steep but steady.

I wish there was rope tow for Royston ski trail in winter. That would be good but a nutcracker ski tow at Lake Mtn.? ....
Dream on!!

Nice one PCV!
Looks like a nice walk to keep in mind for future change of scenery.
I'm thinking of doing something out Healesville or Warburton way soonish.

This is a quick nature fix and keeps the legs moving. It is not far from Melbourne so it makes an easy day trip . Give it a go.
I have done this one before a couple of times.
The first part of the AAWT from Walhalla to Mt. Erica is not that far from Melb. and is worth considering.
I am
planning a more interesting hike next week
up King Spur to Mt. Koonika !

The Lake Mtn. loop looks nice in sunny weather. See the web link here for photos.

King Spur?
It was nice knowing you.
I shall take a minute's silence when I hear to news of a the brave walker who fell to his death, after rassling snakes and scrub, near King Hut.
