Katoomba to Mittagong topographic map

Postby Mickcoop91 » Sun 06 Sep, 2015 7:15 pm

Hi guys, new member
Just wondering whether anyone could tell me what topographic maps I would need if I was planning on doing the Katoomba to Mittagong walk?
Thanks,
Michael

depends on your route, but: Katoomba (just!), Jamison, Burragorang, Jenolan, Kanangra, Kanangra, Yerranderie, Bindook, Nattai, Hilltop, Mittagong may be useful

Welcome to the forum Michael!

As jackhinde said, theirs different routes that you can take, but I suggest that you check out http://topo.notto.be which is a handy online topographic map website. Zoom into the area where you intend to walk, and when you click anywhere, the name of the map topographical map sheet will appear, along with the 6 figure grid reference for that spot. This way you can work out exactly which maps you will need for the walk.
Tackling the unknown and the awesome one adventure at a time!

Beware! The Nattia sheet can send you astray if not careful.

On a big walk like what you are planning I don't carry the maps. I photocopy the bits I need. Then at the end of each day burn the bit that is no longer needed.

Great plan until you have to backtrack because the rivers are up or you're injured.

As a Pitcairn descendent maybe I would, or catch a plane if you're on that particular walk, eh Mr Dingo :)

For a measly $180 sounds like a sound investment....Just need to hold your nerve through the take off!
