Great North Walk - Yarramalong to Watagan Creek via Basin Ca

Mon 05 Aug, 2019 1:58 pm

I am planning to do this section and looking at map and notes of wild walk.
For camp at Basin Camp site I have to walk 2.2 km of from main track to get there and next day walk back 2.2 km to continue follow the main track toward Watagan Creek
Is there any other option to camp just off main track or very close and have a water at camp site.

You can bypass the Basin by completing the leg between Watagan Creek campsite and Kingtree Ridge campsite. This can be done in a day. There is a tank at Kingtree Ridge and there is water from Watagan Creek. Don't think there is much to recommend between these two campsites. You cross Wollombi Brook on the way which usually has water.

Interesting place, Wollombi Brook. Heavy forest cover.
