(Temporary Holding) Split Posts: Larapinta Trail 2013 Report

Mod edit: posts split from topic: viewtopic.php?f=49&t=14504&p=193166#p193166

Looking forward to it, especially as I am doing bits of the track next week.
But I think you will find using place keepers will not work.
The edit function was changed recently [there is a discussion post on this] - so now you get a very short time to edit - a bit longer to delete, and after that it is fixed.
You can still get a moderator to add the bits you want by clicking on the "Report this post" icon ! And they are happy to do that.
Otherwise - you will just have to add each day as you get to them, rather than using place holders.

[Edit - I see you have noticed the change to editing. Let me encourage you to continue on past any comments like my own.
That is in fact how I have done all my trip reports and think it works OK.]

There may be a way of changing individual permissions or something, not really necessary- Forest just post them (in order) and i'll re-arrange them into the right place and delete the remaining blanks. Iv'e sent a pm/ left the report open in case i'm not around when you get back to it.

I'd be interested in this report as well.

Nuts, I am sorry for your misunderstanding. Forgot to delete the rest of eggs post. I am not a regular user, so a mistake was made. All we do make mistakes. Cheers.

It's ok D.
I only have a few days up there and could not get a companion.
So I am going solo, but using a car along the route.
It gives some flexibility and mostly day packs.

I was through there with the family a few years ago. But the approx itinerary this time is:
Explore east from Stanley Chasm for a morning with afternoon going west climbing to Brinkley Bluff for overnight camp.
Morning return to Stanley Chasm with a relax at Ellery Big Hole campsite.
Early start to go from Serpentine to Counts and return. At this stage I might go to Ormiston and hike to camp at Bowmans Gap.
Next day explore Waterfall Valley and return to Ormiston. Afternoon at Redbank.
Early rise to climb Sonder and that night at Glen Helen to clean up.
We will see how it goes. :)

You have been there and I can see that, a good flexible plan. Don't miss a short side trip over Standley Chasm and Serpentine Gorge & The Lookout.

As soon as it's sorted I'll keep adding the daily notes and pictures.
