Keppel's Hut to Lake Mtn. had very good snow today on the upper sections of the trails.

I meant to post these just after they happened.

The KNP bushwalkers were very ill-prepared, and should not have gone there. There is minimal shelter between Rawson Pass and Blue Lake. It is unclear if there were road closed signs low on Hotham and if these were ignored.

There is more proper snow coming between July 9th and July 15th.
I went to XC ski at Mt. Buffalo and at Falls Creek recently. You can see some pictures here:

Mt. Bogong / Cleve Cole hut is now in my in tray for August 2025 after I return from a week at the Bogong Rover Chalet. My ski trip to NZ August 2025 is not going ahead this year .
Other things have come up .
My next major ski trip is going to be Island Bend camping / Perisher XC and two days of lifts at Charlotte Pass in NSW.
Did I mention skiing at Mt. Stirling recently ?
All the snow on the Circuit road has melted since then but my friend and I had a great day skiing out to Howqua Gap hut and back to TBJ.

Going by how good the snow is above 1400 M. at Mt. Stirling at present ( 16-7-25) then a trip up to the Bluff
for snow based activities, based at the Bluff Hut
would not be a
waste of time IMHO.

I have noticed anything north facing at the lower levels is thin and sun affected. A warmer week coming with some rain so the lower snow will be all but gone unless it is in protected areas. The road to Bluff hut is not what I would consider protected. Bluff Hut is around 1500m so maybe above that will be OK for a bit of snow play but I think it will be a walk to it very soon.
