Cleaning out the garage and came across some old catalogues and books including a copy of the MUMC Equipment Guide from 1971 which included suggested prices for various pieces of equipment.
Brings back memories of those damned uncomfortable H Frame packs, tents without floors (you needed a groundsheet - and certainly no thermarests, etc) and japara jackets (which were indestructible).
Also found an old price list from Bushgear, a store in Hardwear Lane Melbourne located upstairs above a bookstore - bare squeaky floorboards and gear scattered all over the place - so unlike the boutique like stores of today.

Another old price list from Bushgear - in those days much of the gear came in from New Zealand or the UK and next to nothing from the US. The likes of Goretex had only recently been invented a few years earlier and wasn't widely available if at all in Australia - japara, oiled or dry, was the usual material for wet weather gear.

What would have been an average weekly wage in the 70s? (I'm a 76 model)

As a rather poorly paid computer programmer I was earning about $160 a week in 1975. More typical rates about $180-$200 but in those days inflation was quite high so big disparities did open up. When I quit I was offered $200 a week to stay.

Computers?...in 1975??...Now I have heard everything.

I worry and felt sorry for the guy who would drop his stack of punch cards... There goes all the codes! LOL
