I've been on the forum for a while but this is the first of the publications that I've noticed. What a terrific endeavour, thanks so much. I'm look forward to some reading. Could I suggest that you provide the opportunity for Forum members and others to make a voluntary contribution toward the publication. If there is a Forum fund that exists that contributes to production costs (if any) then a contribution could go there. Or alternatively, perhaps a contribution towards a nominated existing community (environmental) cause. Especially, if that cause could somehow report back on the amount that 'we' contribute. Just a thought. Thanks

Hi ggorgeman
Thanks for reaching out.

All the content for the magazine is provided by volunteers and forum members are 100% encouraged to contribute content. The idea is that it is a magazine written by bushwalkers for bushwalkers.
I am adding new features and tools to bushwalk.com. The goal is to have a few key areas.

The forum that we know :)

Walks

Magazine

Learn to bushwalk-type articles
https://bushwalk.com/article/

Coming soon, we will have an app that will pull together the walks and learn to walk articles.

My hope is to keep it all free for end users. I'm not sure I will be able to do that with the app, but I'm working on it.
I hope to encourage people who can afford to contribute financially to do so with simple one-off or regular contributions. That might be a next-year thing.
Also always keen for people to volunteer their time to help in any of the areas, or simply make suggestions.
(I have been unwell the last few years so not in a position to provide good support so stuff is taking way longer than I would like)

So in terms of financial contributions, are you thinking of something like a levelled 'badge' that people could use on the forum to show the level or frequency of contributions?

Hi Wildwalks, I wasn't necessarily thinking of something quite like a badge, I hadn't really thought of that. I had in mind just an informal opportunity to make a contribution in recognition/appreciation of the publication. Cheers GG
